Following up on the optimism theme, it strikes me as plausible that some folks are not optimists because they spend so much time fretting over things they cannot control, and in some cases, have no business controlling. One example: how much other people are paid. Thomas Sowell has a wonderful column on this topic, and I recommend it to you. In fact, I think another of my resolutions this year will be to read Dr. Sowell more regularly.
